A wine that's not made in every vintage (it has been released in 2016 and 2019), the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon 8th Maker comes primarily from the estate in St. Helena (there's a small part from Howell Mountain). Offering a darker core of black fruits as well as plenty of spicy oak, graphite, and ripe tobacco, this full-bodied, concentrated, inky and powerful wine should benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age. It doesn't have quite the precision of the 2016 but nevertheless is an incredible wine.

Primarily off the St Helena Home Vineyard, Beringer's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon 8th Maker avoids any of the green notes found in the Private Reserve or the company's Howell Mountain-sourced bottlings. Wonderfully pure cassis and blueberry fruit are joined by subtle earth, cedar and vanilla shadings on the nose. Full-bodied and marked on the palate by spicy oak and ripe tannins, it finishes long and mouthwatering.
