Score 90/100 · Neal Martin (Vinous), Dec 2022
A dark blend of black cherries, tar and savory herbs defines the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino. This is silky and polished within, with cool-toned red fruits and saline-mineral tones that add a more savory character toward the close. The 2018 finishes with a web of fine tannins that create a crunchy sensation as hints of dried berries and licorice fade.

Maturing ruby with orange tinges. Still closed and reductive. A sense of richness on the palate and with mellow, creamy notes but reluctant to open up. Generous, for sure, but I wonder if this truly has the capacity to become more complex with age. (WS)
