Tasting notes
The 2019 Barolo Cerretta Riserva displays a bit more transparency in its bright red hue and is lifted in the glass with bright and pure aromatics of blood orange, amaro-like minty herbs, bright red cherries, and sweet baking spices. The palate also offers a lot of clarity upfront before its more noble structure starts to emerge and show its more expanding ripe tannins, with salty freshness and mineral accents on the finish. Drink over the coming 12-15 years.

Serralunga d’Alba. Mid ruby with narrow, bricky rim. A little candied and concentrated on the nose, with rich cherry fruit. Lush, supple cherry fruit, with finely grained but gripping tannins. Hugely accessible but can age. (WS)
Earthy red and black berries, some wood polish and fragrant spices. Intense and concentrated, grippy tannins and bright acidity allied to crunchy, tangy red fruits and plummy dark fruits. Quite vertical in style, with some salinity on the long, vibrant and fresh finish.
The 2019 Barolo Cerretta is a powerhouse. Macerated dark cherry, leather, incense, smoke, cured meats, licorice and game give this Serralunga Barolo tons of brooding, somber intensity. A few years in bottle should be beneficial.
