Tasting notes
The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva Il Quercione is also more forward with its oak influenced profile, revealing aromas of tobacco leaf, cigar box, dried cherries, and leather. This is a brooding wine with a bold personality, grippy tannins, broad shoulders, and a lasting finish. It's a serious and brooding wine that demands time. Drink 2028-2038.

Dark mature ruby with narrow bricky rim. Exotic spice, star anise and rich cherry-pie nose. Bags of juicy cherry fruit and chewy tannins that become a little astringent on the finish. On the verge of being over-oaked, but it works – just. (WS)
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Il Quercione lifts from the glass with a seductive blend of cedar dust, cloves, peppery wild berries and sage. It’s fleshy upon entry with creamy textures and ultra-ripe red and blue fruits that swirl across a stream of zesty acidity. Chalky mineral tones resonate as the 2019 leaves a subtle tinge of heat and notes of licorice to fade slowly. This is a bit disjointed.
