Score 86-88/100 · Drink 2019-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

Matured in 40% new oak, the 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village has another tightly-wound, you might say "tight-lipped" bouquet that needed a lot of encouragement from the glass, only reluctantly offering blackberry and briary aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, chalky tannin. To me there is a little shrillness in this Chambolle-Musigny, the acidic line attacking rather than interwoven through the dark berry fruit. The finish feels grippy in the mouth, missing the rondeur you expect from this appellation, especially at village cru level. I would like to reassess this once in bottle.
