The 2025 Clos du Clocher was picked from September 4 with the young Merlot and matured in 56% new oak. This has quite an intense and slightly more opulent bouquet compared to, say, the Clinet that I tasted directly prior to my visit. Yet the fruit here is pleasingly pure and focused blueberry and raspberry fruit, iodine and pressed violets. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, quite dense and powerful for a Clos du Clocher though the silver thread of acidity and underlying fine tannins means that there is no excess. Gentle but insistent grip, a little granular in texture towards the structured finish, do not be afraid to cellar this Pomerol for a few years if you wish. Impressive, but be patient and broach its sibling Banalgue as you wait for this to mature. 13.4% alcohol.

If the cherries, black raspberries, and wet-earth notes in the perfume do not get you going, the intense floral aromatics promise to capture your attention. The palate is silky, vibrant, and fresh. There is lift and refinement to all the sweet red berries and pit fruits. The finish is refined, long, and lifted, leaving you with recurring impressions of supple-textured fruits, cocoa, and freshness on your palate. Give it a year or two in the bottle before pulling a cork, and enjoy it with pleasure for the next 20-25 or more years easily. Harvesting took place September 4 - September 23. The wine blends 78% Merlot with 22% Cabernet Franc. 13.3% ABV. Yields were 32 hectoliters per hectare.
A Merlot-heavy blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc that's being raised 18 months in 56% new French oak, the 2025 Clos Du Clocher comes from a château that deserves more attention in the market today. The wine has a brilliant nose of juicy red and blue fruits with notable complexity in its spicy wood, flowers, and graphite-like nuances. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel, wonderfully polished tannins, and a great finish. Checking in at 13.3% alcohol with a pH of 3.54, it stays in the focused, elegant style of the vintage and is beautifully done.
Antonio Galloni, April 2026 The 2025 Clos du Clocher is fabulous. In fact, the 2025 is one of the best vintages I have tasted of late. Clos du Clocher impresses with its energy and vibrancy. Red/purplish fruit, blood orange, mocha, espresso and exotic spice soar from the glass. The blend is 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, much of it from older vines that confer notable dimension. Brisk saline notes explode on the close.

Clos du Clocher is a Pomerol estate owned by the Bourotte family of the négociant Jean-Baptiste Audy. In the heart of the famous Pomerol plateau, under the shadow of the eponymous church bell tower, this 5.9-hectare estate is home to some truly ancient vines that produce tremendous wine.
