A blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2023 Space Cadet has an almost Pinot Noir-like style in its juicy red and black berry fruits as well as spicy, peppery herbs, and sandalwood aromatics. It's medium-bodied, balanced, has a soft, supple mouthfeel, and fine tannins. It's beautifully done and another charming, graceful wine from Lato that has so much to love. Drink bottles over the coming decade or so. Drink 2026-2036.

The 2023 Space Cadet is composed of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache, a portion of each hailing from Bien Nacido and Larner. Brambly dark fruits, oiled leather, dried flowers and woody aromas assemble around a dark-fruited core, followed by a soft, velvety palate that foregrounds a seductive texture over the more structured chassis that supports the single-varietal Syrah and Grenache bottlings. The finish is similarly rich and spice-laden, lingering with powerful tannins laced with salinity and padded with a juicy, delicious core.
The 2023 Space Cadet (85% Syrah, 15% Grenache from Bien Nacido and Larner) is a velvety, silky wine that marries floral Grenache aromatics with dark purple Syrah fruit, mocha, vanilla and spice. Chalky tannins and calibrated acids provide an impeccably balanced framework, all wrapped up in velvety smooth contours. The 2023 is impossible to resist.
