Tasting notes
37-year-old vines. Aged 11 months in 24% new French oak barrels from Atelier Centre France and Tonnellerie Mercurey, followed by 6 months settling in tank. Interesting to taste this, the most impressive of DuMOL’s 2023 Chardonnays, the day before the HdV vertical tasting. Very restrained nose. Bright fruit and a certain medicinal spine. Really direct and pure. Lots of grip and substance. (JR)

The 2023 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is every bit as memorable as it was from barrel. Dense, lush and exotic, the Hyde really stands out in this range. DuMOL has done a great job balancing the natural opulence of Hyde with notable freshness. Orange peel, burnt sugar, mint and tropical accents all race across the palate. A very light touch of reduction adds character. Power, richness and energy—it's all here. This fruit was picked on September 30, exceptionally late for this site.
Gorgeous, voluminous, creamy and distinctive, with the signature Hyde richness tempered by a bit of restraint in texture and tempting flinty accents on the palate. Medium bodied at 13.5% alcohol, it blends power with gracefulness and good acid balance. Drinkable now, but best from 2030.
