Tasting notes
The 2016 Syrah Les Voisins is medium ruby-purple with an inviting nose of warm marionberry, blackberry, boysenberry and blueberry—wonderful layering of black and blue fruits!—with mint chocolate, roasted coffee bean, olive and violet nuances. The palate is medium-bodied with fantastic intensity, expertly framed with grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long. This is so delicious! 800 cases produced.

Leading off the Syrahs, the 2016 Les Voisins has a Côte Rôtie-like perfume of bacon fat, raspberries, and dried flowers. It’s medium-bodied, silky and elegant on the palate, with a complex, mid-weight, incredibly drinkable style. I had a great tasting with winemaker Wells Gunthrie and these latest releases show elegant, vibrant profiles. These aren’t for those craving powerful, rich wines, and they shine for their purity of fruit, balanced, and singular personalities.
The 2016 Syrah Les Voisins is wonderfully aromatic lifted and spiced, all in a translucent, refreshing style that is hugely appealing. Black pepper, lavender, spice and a range of blue/purplish fruit notes are front and center. There is quite a bit to look forward to.
