A bright yellow/silver hue, the 2023 Chardonnay Roserock Maigold is focused and linear, with refreshing, bright, compact acidity and notes of pure green apples and candied lime. It has a lovely, refined, silky, chalky texture and good length. I am a big fan of this estate in the Eola-Amity Hills. Drink 2025-2035. I continue to be impressed with the wines coming out of this new winery from the Drouhin family in the Eola-Amity Hills. The Chardonnays in particular have stood out to me over the past few years, and I feel they are only poised to improve with time, so I highly encourage readers to check these out.

The 2023 Chardonnay Maigold has layered aromas of ripe stone fruit, roasted almonds, graham cracker and matchstick, and it reveals floral perfume as it airs in the glass. The medium-bodied palate features expansive, savory flavors. It’s foiled by tangy acidity and has a long, layered finish. It embraces generosity and tension and should be long lived in the cellar. 129 cases were made.
The 2023 Chardonnay Maigold is wonderfully fresh and lifted in the glass, cascading upward with perfumed florals and sweet spice elevated by nuances of mint. Crisp and classic in feel, it displays pure white pit fruits underscored by tactile mineral tones and a twang of citrus. The finish tapers off with admirable length and youthful tension, leaving a slight saline tinge and sweet herbal air.
