Tasting notes
The 2012 Antología XXXVIII is a blend of 80% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. This one is a little cheaper than the rest of the Antología range, and it also seems a little more accessible, with the Malbec sourced form Altamira, which provides lots of spices (even oregano!) and flowers, quite aromatic overall and finishes long and tasty with the oak is nicely folded into the fruit. The Antología wines are unique blends (sometimes a single varietal) that for some reason surprise winemaker Mariano di Paola who numbers them with roman numerals. The entire line of wines ferment in 600-liter rolling barrels and age in new French oak barrels where they age for 15-18 months depending on wine and vintage. This is my favorite Antología this time. 17,000 bottles produced.
