Tasting notes
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras was picked September 5, before the full depth of September's heat could affect the vines. It still boasts the site's characteristic crushed-stone notes on the nose. It's red-fruited, with ample weight and richness on the palate, supple tannins and a long finish. More flattering in its youth than I remember the 2021 being, it looks to have the concentration required to age well for at least 15 years.

Coming from a Grand Cru site in St. Helena, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras Vineyard reveals gorgeous aromas of ripe black cherries, currants, chocolate, and chalky minerality. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it's medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and seamless on the palate, with perfectly integrated oak. This is a remarkable achievement in 2022 that will keep for 15+ years.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is a beautifully vivid wine. It shows all the dark, savory/mineral character that is typical of this site, but it reflects the softer, more understated style of the year. Crushed rocks, graphite, lavender, bittersweet chocolate, sage and black cherry are nicely delineated.
