Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Medium ruby. Cool, complex aromas of currant, violet, leather and game ("my first cabernet made in a Bordeaux style," notes Golitzin, adding that this cool year brought low grape sugars). Conveys an impression of limited ripeness and dimension; nicely balanced but smaller-scaled, with modest flesh and expressiveness. The least satisfying of the vintages of the '90s in today tasting.
