Tasting notes
A beautiful second wine that shows the class of the vintage with its pure cassis and subtle red and blue fruits intermixed with beautiful savory herbs, iron, tobacco, and chalky minerality, the 2023 Novicium is based on 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Merlot and aged 22 months in 45% new French oak with 49% neutral French oak and 1% concrete amphora. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, focused mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. It's very much in the pure, focused, elegant, yet concentrated style of the vintage. Give it 2-3 years, and it will keep for two decades. Drink 2027-2045.
