The 2022 Mayote is a barrel sample of 39% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot and 27% Petit Verdot maturing for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Its aromas are already surprisingly pure and nuanced, its bold blackcurrant fruit accented by tones of pencil shavings, cigar box, dried lavender and sage. The palate is light on its feet with a restrained core of nuanced fruit supported by soft, grainy tannins and bright bursts of acidity that highlight its pretty floral and mineral character that drive the long, perfumed finish.

It is surprisingly juicy and fresh in style, with ripe wild berry fruits accelerated by vibrant acidity as a subtle citrus tinge adds contrast toward the close. Youthful tension defines the finish, leaving a twang of licorice and savory herbal thrust as firm tannins add form without detracting from its energetic state. Mayote is a blend of 46% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 19% Petit Verdot that was refined for 22 months in 100% new French oak.
