The 2023 Flagship Syrah was matured for 14 months in 50% new French oak. It has pure, dramatically unfurling scents of cassis, violet, charcuterie, garrigue, pepper and coffee beans. The full-bodied palate is bursting with fragrant layers of berry fruit. It’s structured by luxurious, powdery tannins and bright acidity, and it has a long, flavorful finish. Powerful yet elegant, it should be long lived in the cellar. 425 cases.

Sourced from Scarline, Connor Lee, and Naravane Estate, the 2023 Syrah Flagship shows both darkness and structure as well as pretty, spicy floral aromatics, contrasting and complementing both sides of its personality with confounding complexity. The grapes from each place are co-fermented in concrete and 100% whole-cluster fermented. Seamless, full-bodied, and densely layered, it is quite a pretty wine, balanced in acidity, with shocks of dusty tannins, ripe blackberry compote, and bacon fat oozing out of a lengthy palate that will continue to evolve in bottle over the next 15-20 years.
