Tasting notes
Cassis, graphite, smoky tobacco, and darker chocolate intermixed with a hint of espresso roast all emerge from the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Figure, a ripe and round effort with a lush, layered mouthfeel. It's medium to full-bodied, has sweet tannins, and a great finish that shows terrific overall balance. There are roughly 87 cases produced. It's going to keep for 15 years. Drink 2025-2040.

From the Pozzan Vineyard on the flank of Diamond Mountain (Calistoga AVA), Hobel's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Figure features ample black fruit, ranging from blackberries and plums to cassis, underscored by smoky, cedary and earthy nuances. Complex and savory, it's medium- to full-bodied, similar in some ways to a great vintage Bordeaux, being somewhat streamlined in shape, with a softly tannic, long-lingering finish.
The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Figure is one of the finest wines I have tasted from Cameron Hobel. Graphite, incense, dried herbs, pencil shavings and blue-toned fruit are finely sketched. This intensely savory, mineral Cabernet has so much going on. The long, sustained finish is a thing of beauty. The Figure is sourced from Franz Valley School Road, one of the most distinctive districts in all of Napa Valley.
