Score 96/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jul 2019

The beautiful Castello Romitorio 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva shows deep and savory intensity with elegantly balanced aromatic intensity. The bouquet is redolent of dark cherry aromas with dried blackberry that segue to spice, leather, tobacco and balsam herb. The wine shows medium weight with long and polished tannins that add to the length and persistency of this unique and pretty expression. Give the wine a few more years to unwind and relax in the bottle.

The sweetly spiced red berries and cherries here are nicely augmented with cedar and cocoa-powder notes. The palate delivers a beautiful array of fine and fresh tannins, carrying long, supple and fresh fruit flavor. Drink or hold.
