Whole cluster. 12 months in oak (20-25% new). Tight, lightly smoky/creamy citrus. Much more steely at the beginning than the village wine but spreads on the palate to a long subtle finish and has depth on the mid palate. (JH)
Full straw-yellow color. Salty aromas of nut oil, resin and licorice, plus a lightly sweaty, herbal quality that reminded me of verdelho. Suave, tactile, expressive and dry, conveying a very strong impression of minerality. Saline notes of game and herbs carry through to the wine's strong finish. This is almost Batard-like in its power.

Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest and most famous producers in Burgundy, making both domaine and négociant wines. It remains family-owned and run, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
