A penetratingly high-toned nose of kirsch, mothball and lemon rind is followed by an unexpectedly tame palate impression of apple and cherry and a finish whose gentleness and slight lack of focus may reflect light deacidification as well as low-level botrytis in fruits that Lauers themselves did not grow.
