Tasting notes
This is very juicy and flavorful with lots of ripe berries and fine tannins. Full-bodied, juicy, flavorful and intense. A little high octane. Dramatic, slightly wild package. Cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Drink and enjoy.

Not yet bottled, the 2016 Surrealist Red Blend is a thrilling barrel sample that’s going to flirt with perfection on release. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (there’s a good chunk of Petit Verdot), it has a fresh, structured, concentrated style that carries incredible classic aromas of crème de cassis, graphite, tobacco leaf, and freshly sharpened cedar pencils. It’s powerful, layered, yet at the same time, elegant. It’s the real deal.
A barrel sample blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Petit Verdot, the 2016 The Surrealist Proprietary Red is deep purple-black in color and very spicy on the nose with warm plums, warm cassis and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of menthol, earth, dusty soil and Chinese five spice. Big, rich, full-bodied and concentrated, the palate is lively, intense and fresh, with a velvety texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing long. Approximately 350 cases will be made, to be released in the spring of 2019.
