Score 89/100 · Drink 2003-2005, Robert Parker, Dec 2003
From a stony, rocky vineyard, the light gold-colored 2001 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard’s perfume of white peaches, sweet corn, and ripe fruit is followed by a monolithic, chunky Chardonnay that lacks the complexity displayed by some of its siblings. While it possesses good weight, it needs more delineation/precision. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. Tel. (707) 963-3132; Fax (707) 963-9713

Wild, leesy nose dominated by smoke and hazelnut. Fat, dense and chewy; very rich but dry, with flavors of ripe pineapple, smoke, lichee and spices. Rather low in acidity and a tad warm on the end.
