Blackbird's 2022 Paramour Proprietary Red isn't overly herbal, but it's enough to let you know that it's majority Cabernet Franc, with pretty leafy and floral notes adding complexity to the cherry and raspberry fruit. The actual blend is 73% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. Showing better now than last year's barrel sample, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and creamy on the mid-palate, then long and plush on the finish.
The 2022 Paramour is laced with crushed red-toned fruit, cedar, tobacco, spice and mocha. Medium in body, with pretty aromatics, the 2022 is a delight. This is another impeccably balanced offering from Blackbird and longtime winemaker Aaron Pott.
