Tasting notes
Donum has increased their focus on Chardonnay, grafting over some vines to the grape. Last year, they replanted a new site in Carneros to Chardonnay. The 2018 Chardonnay Carneros Estate comes from some younger vines planted in 2013 to Wente Clone. It has aromas of quince paste, poached pears, apricots and almonds with a saline undercurrent and honeyed accents. The palate is light to medium-bodied, rounded and silky, with concentrated, savory fruits opposed by tangy acidity and a long, nutty finish.
