From one of the steepest vineyards of the Felseneck and the oldest vines, the 2021 Riesling Trocken Final offers an intense and concentrated, enormously iodine bouquet of dark flint stones (in fact, this seems to be the quintessence of Devonian slate) and graphite intertwined with dried chamomile and concentrated lemon aromas. Rich and concentrated as well as round and lush on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense, intense and powerful, crystalline and enormously salty, highly complex and sustainable Riesling from 70+-year-old vines in a superb, shockingly steep slate terroir. The finish shows grape tannins, is stimulatingly salty and fine but will also satisfy hedonistic minds. This is nearly as powerful as the 2020 Felseneck GG but finer, saltier and flintier on the finish. Definitely one of Tim Fröhlich's greatest wines so far. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022.
