Tasting notes
The nutty aspect of Domprobst comes out here on the nose, suggesting pistachio extract and lightly toasted pecan. With that come scents of quince and mirabelle that turn jelly-like in their concentration on a glossy, buoyant palate, while lemon and grapefruit serve for animating brightness and consummate refreshment of a sort that one rarely encounters in an Auslese. Botrytis has worked its magic without leaving any obvious fingerprints. The finish here is ravishingly persistent, interrupted only by one’s compulsion to take the next sip.

Although this is still a bit closed in the nose, this Auslese is super succulent and extremely fresh on the palate with delicate exotic fruit. A firm finish of enormous complexity. Better from 2019, and probably close to immortal.
