Tasting notes
Three parcels in Serraboella, mostly clay soils. Spontaneous fermentation in steel tank, 18 months in a mix of big Slavonian oak and French oak tonneaux. Deep crimson. Rich, dark fruit, intense, really dark and almost savoury – a sort of rocky purity that is all about the fruit. Chewy, savoury and dry. Embryonic finesse. Rich fruit balanced by the dry tannins and fresh acidity. Complete and with a lot of ageing potential. GV (JH)

The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Serraboella is bright, effusive and full of character. A burst of dark red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal and pipe tobacco makes a strong first impression. Ripe, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The Serraboella is such a delicious wine. It spent 18 months in cask and neutral oak.
