60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec, 15% Carmenère, 6% Petit Verdot. A warm season with cool mornings during the summer. Harvest 7 March to 11 May. Aged for 18 months, 90% in French oak  barrels and 10% in foudres. Intense nose. Something definitely a little saline or stony about this with some chewiness on the end. Hint of tarriness. Interesting but not there yet. Streak of green for the first time in this Beyond Bordeaux tasting. (JR)

Ines Salpico, Decanter, August 2025 - Editor for South America & Spain: This vintage of Seña marks the transition between 'eras' with harvest still under the oversight of Francisco Baettig ahead of the arrival of Emily Faulconer, who then briefly left on maternity leave, with Baettig covering for her. The baton has been successfully passed on and Baettig left a fabulous vintage for Faulconer to start her trajectory at Errazuriz: full of detail and with remarkable purity of flavour. 2023 was a hot vintage in Chile but the Seña site benefited from wide temperature amplitude, allowing the fruit to retain the fine and lively acid that frames the wine from start to finish - and a long finish it is. A mineral nose, with gunpowder and graphite, preludes flavours of ripe wild strawberry, maraschino cherries, plum sorbet and cherry pit. Liquorice, bayleaf and sage, sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg, give nuance and definition. Lingering, spicy touch of spicy wild rocket. Drinking superbly now but with a great life ahead of it. A fascinating cornucopia of elements that, when you list them, you could never imagine integrating so well. But this is staggeringly harmonious. The crucial ingredient here is the massive temperature range between night and day in this exceptional vintage and the unique situation of the vineyard making that possible. Seña is flattered by these vintage conditions when many other vineyards were not. Curry leaf. Assorted Indian spices. Dried petals and a little wild rosemary and lavender. Brambles and bramble compote. Pomegranate. Loganberry. Patchouli. Pot pourri. Fresh rose petals too. There’s even a little hint of potter’s clay and playdough! In the mouth, this is incredibly intense, rich, deep, dark and compact at first. But the overall impression, after the initial shock, is one of levity and lightness. It’s highly spicy and slightly sweet scented, but once again the balance is complete, the harmony staggering given the sheer complexity. It’s also sapid and juicy just when you expect it to dry out a little and as the tannins squeeze and grip to summon the lifted elegance of the aerial finish.

Opens with its signature fresh, lifted bouquet driven by mint, spice and red fruit aromas, developing graphite accents and a vanilla-tinged undercurrent with aeration. The palate beautifully balances a suave polish with tensile focus, releasing into a rich, slow-moving finish underpinned by mineral-driven nuances and a touch of refreshing salinity. This impressive showing from Seña in a warm vintage retains admirable freshness and verve. The blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec, 15% Carménère, 6% Petit Verdot matured for 18 months in barrique and a small portion of foudre. Drink Date:2026 - 2038.

Seña 1:1
Seña

Seña – literally meaning “signal” – was Chile’s first icon wine. In the early 1990s, the country had a reputation mainly for lower-end, high-volume wines, but Eduardo Chadwick, owner and president of Viña Errázuriz, set out to change that.
