The 2015 Riesling Grossi Laüe Schoenenbourg Grand Cru is from Triassic marl and gypsum. A chamomile tisane aroma arises on the nose, along with touches of hayflower and dried lemon. This shows a beautiful, gentle evolution, just as this should at almost ten years of age. Its gorgeous, ethereal lift is catnip to Riesling lovers. The palate is balm-like, flowing and gliding, imbued with all the richness of the Schonenbourg site, alive with youthful citrusy brightness and rounded with superb creaminess. This is a Riesling to fall in love with that hugs you with aromas and smoothness you want to sink into. It's a big wine, but so seductive, fresh and long. (Bone-dry)

No skin contact or malolactic conversion. Diam closure. Empty bottle weight 553 g. Free SO 2 58 mg/l, total SO 2 143 mg/l, RS 9.8 g/l. Vegan. Very old-fashioned label (clever!). Quite sweet and rich. A little pungent. A historical point of interest rather than a great modern wine. Floral notes. Long. (JR)

From a very warm vintage that brought a lot of sweet wines due to an explosion of maturity in autumn, Hugel's white-golden 2015 Riesling Grand Schoenenbourg "Grossi Laüe" offers an intense nose of super ripe and concentrated fruits intermixed with notes of lemon chutney and hints of iodine. On the palate, this is a powerful, rich and monolithic, very firm structured Riesling with palatable tannins and a long, tight and mineral finish. This is an expressive Schonenbourg with still some aromatic and structural bitters on the finish, but it's very promising. The 2015 will be released as grand cru for the first time in two or three years. 14.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022.

What a stunningly fresh nose for a five-year-old Alsace dry riesling. Vibrant nose of fresh pineapple with a whole garden of fresh-herb aromas. Rich and concentrated, but also cool and delicate at the front, then comes stunning, racy power that drives across the palate with great mineral energy. Doesn’t want to stop at the finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
