Tasting notes
(14% alcohol): Bright red-ruby. Classic varietally expressive, pure aromas of cassis, tobacco leaf, licorice and dried herbs. Silky, suave and intense on the palate, with lovely integrated acidity giving punch to the currant, raspberry and herb flavors. Very suave, energetic, midweight wine with no hard edges. Finishes with a serious dusting of tannins and lovely subtle length and lift. Serious young Cabernet, although the herbal element gained with air.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense, soy-tinged bouquet with black cherries and cassis fruit, perhaps just a little too "full-on" at the moment. The palate is underpinned by quite dry tannins and the new oak (75%) is excessive on the finish, rendering more austere than it deserves to be.
