Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Medium ruby-red, less saturated than the Garys'. Smoky, meaty aromas of black raspberry, coffee, licorice and toffee; a bit blurry after the Garys'. Then smooth and sweet in the mouth, with distinct suggestions of superripeness. Less primary and complex than the Garys'. Finishes with big but ripe tongue-coating tannins and a note of burnt caramel. Turned a tad dry as the tannins mounted.
