Tasting notes
(14.5% alcohol): Dark red-ruby. Serious, rather old-fashioned nose melds blueberry, licorice and tobacco leaf. Then surprisingly plush and layered on the palate, with well-integrated acidity framing the sweet berry and sexy tobacco leaf flavors. An excellent, ripe vintage for this bottling: sappy and concentrated, showing a positive herbal complexity to its varietally expressive flavors of blueberry and licorice.

I actually preferred the 2007 Cabernet Franc to the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place. A blend of 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot, the beautiful dark blue/ruby/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Franc offers up notes of blueberries, spring flowers, and damp earth as well as outstanding purity and texture, and a medium-bodied, long, supple finish. It should drink well for a decade or more. Tel. (707) 967-9111; Fax (707) 967-9611
