Good full red. Pure, aromatic nose of candied red fruits, minerals and flowers. Suave, bright and precise, with firm-edged flavors of cherry and mint. The most perfumed today of these 2001s. Finishes long and aromatic, with solid tannins. This needs six or seven years of cellaring-or give it an extended decanting if you want to taste it now.

The 2001 Beaune Teurons offers mouth-watering blackberry and blueberry aromas. A masculine, chewy wine, it is a big, dense offering with deep, concentrated waves of blackberries, cassis, and jammy grapes. Long-time fans of this estate's wines under the now-retired Mademoiselle Choppin will not recognize this Teurons's style, crafted by Choppin's nephew Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry (2000 was his first vintage from bud-break to harvest). Bright, dark red. Pure aromas of red cherry, spices, leather and roasted meat; as always, a Gevrey style of Beaune. The densest and sweetest of these '01s, with sappy, spicy berry flavors and lovely incipient inner-mouth perfume. Subtly perfumed, bright finish shows excellent persistence.
