Score 95/100 · Drink 2021-2052, Robert Parker, Dec 2016

From Pritchard Hill, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard emanates from those red, volcanic, rocky soils above Oakville in the Vaca Mountains. Rich, concentrated and intense with loads of blackberry and black raspberry fruit, cassis, floral notes and underlying earthy minerality, this is a big, backstrapping, concentrated and dense wine meant for long-term cellaring. It is approachable now, but will be better in 5-6 years and last 25-30.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard is plush and inviting, with striking textural richness and depth. Black cherry, plum, spice and menthol are all fused together in a sumptuous, striking Cabernet endowed with terrific depth. Mocha, chocolate, new French oak and lavender wrap around the juicy finish.
