Beautiful strawberry, cherry, dried flower, and forest notes all emerge from the 2017 Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard, an elegant, layered Sonoma Coast release that shines for its complexity and nuance. With light tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish, I’d be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming decade or so.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard opens with expressive floral and spiced notes. On the palate, the wine is a bit narrow, with slightly angular contours that attenuate the fruit and expose the tannins. It will be interesting to see if the Peay fleshes out in bottle. For now, I can just say I expected a little more here.
