Tasting notes
Limpid yellow. Powerful aromas of poached pear yellow apple and candied orange are complicated by suggestions of vanilla buttered toast and honey. Rich but surprisingly energetic offering ripe oak-spiced orchard fruit and lemon gelato flavors underscored by a smoky mineral quality. Hefty but not lacking for finesse or detail. Finishes smooth and subtly sweet leaving pear nectar and vanilla notes behind.

The 2013 Chardonnay Evenstad Reserve, a blend from Domaine Serene's vineyards, is matured for 14 months in 25% new French oak. It has a well-defined bouquet with fine delineation and mineralité, conveying more complexity than the single vineyard offerings in 2013. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, green apple and fresh pear notes, and a dash of lemongrass on the finish that lingers nicely. This is a harmonious, nuanced and delicious Chardonnay that will age well over the next 10-12 years and it offers great value at that price point.
