Score 86/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Aug 2002
The austere 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in a combination of French and American oak, reveals a dark ruby/purple color, plenty of up-front black currant fruit, tart acidity, and copious tannin in the finish. It does not possess the broadness and lushness found in most Venge reds. Two to three years of cellaring will undoubtedly soften it, but this will always be an angular example of Saddleback Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. Tel. (707) 944-1304; Fax (707) 944-1325
