Tasting notes
The more elegant and lifted bottling in comparison to the savory and brawny Horseshoe Syrah, the 2021 Syrah Bearwallow is massively dark-fruited and brooding on the nose but retains a fragrant, floral core of purple flowers, charcoal and iodine aromas. The palate is polished yet classy with admirable precision, transitioning into an incredibly rich finish that bursts at the seams with chewy yet perfectly focused tannins, endless layers of opaque fruits and varietal streaks of meaty complexity. This stunning Syrah should be locked deep in the cellar for at least another 5-7 years but should go toe-to-toe with any serious example of the varietal for the better part of three decades.

The 2021 Syrah Bearwallow Vineyard is going to need time in bottle to shed some of its considerable baby fat. Inky, deep and explosive, the 2021 offers up an exotic mélange of blackberry, game, cloves, lavender, chocolate and cured meats. Embryonic today, the 2021 requires a measure of patience, as it is quite raw at this stage. - Antonio Galloni
