Tasting notes
Medium to deep garnet in color with a hint of purple, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up bold crème de cassis, baked plums and blueberry compote notes with suggestions of mocha, chargrilled meat, cedar chest, spice box and tapenade. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, the generous fruit is well-framed by chewy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy.

(14.7% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Vibrant aromas and flavors of blackberry pie, boysenberry, licorice and spice cake, lifted by a violet topnote. Lively and sweet but quite firm, offering captivating inner-mouth lift. Finishes with building tannins and excellent length. This wine, which struck me as rather high-toned on release, has turned out very well, although it still needs time to soften and evolve.
Deep ruby. Dark fruits, violet and a whiff of caramel on the rather exotic nose. Distinctly high-toned but fresh, with underlying minerality and ripe acidity keeping the very ripe fruit from going over the top. Finishes with chewy tannins. From vines picked quite early in 2007.
