Tasting notes
Soft and charming, with beautiful notes of violets, black cherries, cassis, and spice, the 2023 Vin Des Pays Le Vin Des Amis is a medium-bodied, supple effort offering juicy fruit and classic Clape character. Drink bottles over the coming 5-6 years. Drink 2025-2031. This is another beautiful lineup from the Clape family. The 2023s are supple and upfront, with terrific depth of fruit. Due to tiny yields, no Renaissance cuvée was produced in 2022, and the Grand Vin is brilliant stuff, with a sunny yet concentrated, structured style that reminds me of the estate's 2017. These are beautiful, classic Cornas that readers will love. In addition, don't miss their Saint-Péray, a fresher, crisp, absolutely delicious white.

Fermented with whole bunches and matured for 12 months in a combination of concrete tanks and stainless steel, the 2023 Vin de France Le Vin des Amis reveals a floral, elegant bouquet of dark cherries, violets, flowers and dark wild berries. Moderately weighted and elegantly juicy, it's round and supple with racy acids and a long, mouthwatering finish.
Bottled in September 2024, the 2023 Vin des Amis was vinified with 100% whole clusters during fermentation and didn’t see any oak during its élevage. Stemmy aspects come alive, followed by touches of dried meat, black cherry and rose petal. Fleshy and round, the 2023 provides an easygoing, savory personality and concludes with moderate length on the refreshing finish.
Fresh and immediate with violet, olive and pepper notes. Delicious now. Drinkable and digeste . (JL)
