The 2023 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy is a classic Mark Carter wine. Crème de cassis, chocolate, new leather and licorice flesh out in a rich, sumptuous Cabernet that shows the more opulent side of To Kalon. Big tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit.
Carter's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Grand Daddy isn't the crusty, cantankerous sort but rather the warm, cuddly archetype you'd want to read to your kids in the recliner by the fire. Ripe black cherries dusted with hints of loamy earth and dried spices appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is creamy and supple, almost too easy to drink. Finishing long, with a subtle touch of warmth, it's an impressive effort.
