A deep ruby-hued, powerful wine in the vintage, the 2021 Clos Dubreuil offers up some classy cassis and darker cherry-like fruit as well as spicy oak, chocolate, and subtle herbal notes. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate and brings beautiful depth of fruit, has a round, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's a beautiful wine in the vintage that already offers pleasure yet will easily evolve for 10-12 years, if not longer, in cold cellars.

The 2021 Clos Dubreuil continues a purple patch being enjoyed by this over-performing Saint-Émilion estate. It has a joyous nose that pays little heed to the challenges of the growing season: blackberry, crushed stone and light cedar scents, all very pure and delineated. The oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is perhaps less luxuriant than I noticed from barrel, but that is not necessarily a negative. The 2021 has fine backbone, crisp tannins and a seductive sweetness toward the finish, showing hints of blueberry and baking spice. Absolutely delicious.
The 2021 Clos Dubreuil turned out beautifully. Dark, creamy and super-expressive, the 2021 is very easy to like. Blueberry, mocha, spice, new leather, chocolate and licorice are all dialed up in this succulent, racy Saint-Émilion. All the elements are so well balanced.
Good quality, with the fresh acidities of the vintage carefully balanced by gourmet traces of cocoa bean and liqourice, and a ton of sappy red fruits. Last year before Grand Cru Classé promotion, last full vintage with Benoit Trocard at the helm, and a reminder of the success that he brought this estate. An upscore.
