Score 90-93/100 · Drink 2001-2021, Robert Parker, Jun 2001
The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1997 Barolo Lazzarito reveals a certain forwardness, no doubt because of the vintage's exotic, opulent, low acid character. There is plenty of stuffing, full body, and notes of balsam wood, spice box, fruit cake, and cherries. Viscous, chewy, and deep, this precocious wine can be drunk upon release, or cellared for 15-20 years. Importer: Franklin Selections, Annapolis Junction, MD; tel. (410) 880-4790
