I have two superb notes on the 1959 Lascombes, which I have rated higher than any of the aforementioned Lascombes vintages. In 1988, from magnum, this wine had a huge mocha, cedary, plummy bouquet, full-bodied, remarkably intense, concentrated flavors (that seemed much younger and less evolved than the 1961), as well as a heady, cedary, spicy finish. It was a large-scaled, classic Margaux that is the finest Lascombes I have tasted.
