Score 86/100 · Drink 2021-2028, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Apr 2021

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Coudert offers up scents of prunes, raisin cake and raspberry preserves plus wafts of hoisin, Sichuan pepper and wild mushrooms. The full-bodied palate is packed with dried black berry flavors, framed by chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing spicy if a little rustic.

Revealing a dense purple/plum color as well as a meaty, exotic nose of red plums, currants, iron, and flowers, the 2018 Château Coudert is medium-bodied and has a lively, elegant, mid-weight texture, background oak, good tannins, and solid length on the finish. It's an attractive, enjoyable Saint-Emilion to drink over the coming 8-10 years.

Bright acidity comes through the ripe fruit and the tannins, which are polished and integrated. Medium body. Linear and driven. Serious.
