Tasting notes
The limited production 1998 Cabrida is the product of 100% Grenache from a single nine-acre vineyard. Made only in the finest vintages, from 95-110 year old vines, it is aged in 100% new French oak casks. A remarkable effort, it possesses copious quantities of black cherry, chocolate, and vanilla aromas. Full-bodied, concentrated, tight, and muscular, with moderate tannin, this wine will benefit from 1-3 years of cellaring, and will keep for 12-15 years. This is undoubtedly the most impressive offering I have ever tasted from Tarragona. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016. Full saturated red. Roasted aromas of plum, currant and smoked meat. Creamy, thick and generous, but given shape by a firm spine. Very sweet but not overripe. Finishes with big, mouthdusting tannins that harmonize well with the wine's fruit and oak.
