Score 89/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Jan 2000

The bright, medium ruby-colored 1997 Canary Hill Vineyard displays spicy blueberry and black raspberry aromas. This smooth, supple, medium-bodied wine coats the palate, bringing to mind the delightful Burgundies of Claude Dugat. This sultry, hedonistic offering may lack complexity, but it is a successful wine. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Tel: 1-800-571-6825

Medium red. Spicy, pure, fruit-driven aromas of raspberry, strawberry, smoky oak and subtle earth. Like most of these wines, this was bottled with a good bit of CO2. Big, rich and intensely flavored, with lively acids giving thrust to the flavors. The deepest and most youthful of this set of '97s. Finishes firm and quite persistent.
