Tasting notes
The 1997 Chardonnay Point Rouge (140 cases) exhibits a terrific texture, and a sensational buttery, leesy nose with subtle toasty oak. Passion fruit, oranges, and honeyed lemons compete with minerals in this exceptionally rich, concentrated Chardonnay. A spectacular, full-throttle effort with impeccable balance, it should drink well for 4-5+ years. Tel. (707) 942-4459; Fax (707) 942-0209

Initially rather mute on the nose, but opened to show dried fruits, tangerine, pineapple and nutmeg. Thick and very rich; gives a slightly sweeter impression than the above. Boasts an extraordinarily layered texture. Finishes dusty and quite dry, with a strong mineral quality.
