Tasting notes
Full yellow. Flamboyantly expressive aromas of mirabelle, peach, roasted nuts and sulfides. Fat, full and impressively rich, with roasted, smoky flavors. Very opulent, slightly warm wine. Finishes very long, with a trace of alcohol. "Chardonnays with sulfidey flavors age better than high-estery, fruity aromas, which tend to fade rather quickly," noted Kistler. "When sugar fermentations finish later, more of the wine's aldehydes [compounds that can give wine an oxidative character] are consumed, and the result is more stable wines."

About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
