1989 Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard

Beringer produces a superb Cabernet Sauvignon from the Chabot Vineyard. Approximately 300 cases of this 100% new oak-aged wine are produced. As with Beringer's other successful Cabernets in 1989, the 1989 Cabernet Sauvignon-Chabot Vineyard reveals an impressively saturated dark ruby/purple color, a rich bouquet, and dense, chewy, full-bodied flavors with more noticeable tannin than in the 1990 and 1991. Already approachable, it should last for 12-14 years. Beringer continues to do everything right. Its staff of talented professionals may rank as the best in the business. Beringer possesses some experimental batches of wine that are not likely to be released outside the winery. However, given the quality of such wines as their 1992 Pinot Blanc, 1992 Melon, 1992 Pinot Gris, 1992 Auxerrois, and 1992 Viogner, they are breaking new ground in California. Moreover, prices are reasonable.
